Climacium dendroides,
also known as tree climacium moss, belongs in the order Hypnales and family Climaciaceae,in class Bryopsida and subclass Bryidae. It is identified as a "tree moss" due to its distinctive morphological features, and has four species identified across the Northern Hemisphere. The species name "dendroides" describes the tree-like morphology of the plant, and its genus name came from the structure of the perforations of peristome teeth.[1] This plant was identified by Weber and Mohr in 1804.[5][1] They often have stems that are around 2-10 cm tall and growing in the form of patches,[2] looking like small palm-trees.[1] They have yellow-green branches at the tip of stems. The leaves are around 2.5-3 mm long, with rounder stem leaves and pointier branch leaves.[2] Their sporophytes are only abundant in late winter and early spring, and appears as a red-brown shoot with long stalk and cylindrical capsules.[2

Ordered moss December 22nd, 2024. As of February 1st, still had not received it. Shipping information hadn’t been updated since January 13th. Assumed it had been lost in the mail, and regardless, also assumed the moss would have died after spending over a month in a box. Contacted seller regarding shipping status. She said she could look into it. Didn’t hear back from her for two days. Wrote again asking this time for a full refund as there is 0 indication I will receive the package, and 0 likelihood that if I do, the moss would still be alive. Seller said she could give me a partial refund because she is out for shipping costs. I said that was unacceptable. Why should I pay anything for something that never came? I contacted Etsy for a refund and received it. She wrote to me saying I don’t deserve a “damn” refund. Classy.

These are the cutest little trees. I’m using them in my enchanted forest themed bedrooms. Haven’t “planted” them yet, so no pictures right now. They were packaged perfectly! You can tell the shop owner takes pride in her product/business. ❤️
